This spectacular, medium sized, Antique steamer trunk, is a wooden chest covered in embossed tin, likely from the mid to late 1800's Formerly an antique travel trunk or antique travel chest, this vintage chest is not only beautiful, but makes a great storage chest, or storage trunk. Its a true treasure chest!
These old trunks are also great for workout equipment storage , dumbbells, yoga mats etc. Trunks work great for dog food storage, record album storage, CD storage, book storage, even firewood storage, more than just blanket storage!
The wood slats, on this vintage steamer trunk have been stained in walnut, and topped with polyurethane. The remainder of the body, on this vintage trunk has is done in multiple shades of browns and bronze, with the high points of the pattern buffed bright. The areas without embossed tin is done in a aged black finish. hardware has been done in an aged black and buffed bright.
This embossed tin pattern, is very scarce, and this particular trunk is taller and deeper than most, making it rarer yet. New, custom black leather handles, no key for this trunk.
Interior of this antique trunk is stripped and sanded, and ready for your finishing touches. These old trunks are a great keepsake gift, add decoupage, of photo copies of family photos, old love letters, sheet music, family recipes, children’s art, etc. it’s a blank canvas! It’s also useable, just as it is.
