This is a beautiful, large antique trunk or vintage trunk. It was once an antique travel trunk, or antique travel chest and it's now ready to be your treasure chest! This antique steamer trunk would make a great storage chest, a decorative storage chest, better than a leather storage trunk, cedar chest or hope chest!
This, larger than most, antique trunk or antique chest is a refinished trunk or a refurbished trunk.
The wood slats on this antique steamer trunk are stained in black walnut, and coated with a satin polyurethane. The body of this antique steamer trunk, is covered in tin and refinished in an aged black varying in sheens and shade with a subtle brown in some areas, it almost looks like a leather trunk. Hardware, on this old trunk has been buffed bright. New, custom black leather handles. Note: I never recommend using any of the handles, on any vintage steamer trunk, ones installed by me, or anyone else for that matter. This vintage chest has a small piece, of the slat, missing on trunks right, near corner bracket-see photos. it’s not very noticeable, so zoom in. No key to this antique trunk.
The interior of this old trunk is stripped and sanded, and ready for your finishing touches, though it is useable just the way it is.
You could decoupage photo copies of family photos, old love letters, sheet music, family recipes, children’s art, etc. it’s a blank canvas! If you’re not familiar, with the process, I’d be happy to guide you. These old trunks also make a great gift for the bride and groom, or for use as a card holder, at a wedding reception. These trunks are both a keepsake gift, and an heirloom gift!
The interior, of this Antique Steamer Trunk, can also be stained, painted, upholstered, or decoupaged to your specifications, by me, for an added charge. Though it is useable, just the way it is.
