This old trunk is newly refinished, but definitely has some travel time in its past!
Body is painted in a silver metallic, with black binding, I think it’s vellum.
Oak slats are done in a dark walnut stain
All the hasps, brackets and tacks are varying in color, some of it looks brass, and some looks like gold tone trying to imitate brass and some of it resembles gunmetal.
No keys, for this vintage trunk. New, distressed, brown leather straps and buckles. new custom brown leather handles.
Look closely, there are patches that have missing canvas /fabric, a large portion on the backside, at the bottom edge. It also has some ripples in the wood underneath the canvas on trunk’s left side at bottom, indicating that it was at some point wet, causing the wood layers to separate. It does not affect the structure, especially not with the added lumber!
The interior of this Vintage Chest Trunk is stripped, sanded , and awaits your finishing touches, though it is useable the way it is. You could decoupage, old family photos, kids art, sheet music etc. or paint /use contact paper, on the inside.
The interior also has a newly added false bottom, that has approximately 2” of clearance, see pictures.
