Refinished Pair of Indestructo Steamer Trunks

This rare, matching pair of authentic Indestructo steamer trunks has been expertly refinished and thoughtfully transformed into high-end industrial nightstands or antique end tables. Originally produced in the early 1900s by National Veneer Products, these iconic flat-top trunks are known for their durability and clean, utilitarian lines — making them ideal for modern industrial interiors.
Unlike many antique trunks that retain dark, musty interiors, these have been meticulously stripped and sanded to smooth, clean wood. One trunk features a freshly stained and sealed interior, while the other retains its original Indestructo inserts, also stripped and sanded. The flat tops provide a level surface perfect for bedside lamps, books, or décor, seamlessly blending antique character with functional furniture.
The exteriors are finished in a rich, deep metallic brown complemented by walnut-stained wood slats and oversized brass-tone tacks. Original brass hardware and reinforced metal corners remain intact, preserving authenticity while elevating the finish. The shorter trunk sits on swivel lock wheels for mobility, while the taller trunk stands firmly in place (optional matching wheels available upon request).
