This authentic antique monitor top steamer trunk dates to the late 1800s and features the distinctive waterfall front design collectors prize. Professionally refinished by Angelina Nikon, this antique storage chest combines original smooth tin cladding, walnut-finished oak slats, restored hardware, and a clean sanded wood interior. This antique chest is covered in tin and it’s a newly refinished trunk, or refurbished trunk. The oak slats on this antique chest trunk have been refinished in walnut stain. The smooth tin body has been was previously refinished and I’ve altered the finish a bit. My inspiration was an old rat rod. The colors in this look like Red Oxide, under black paint. Certain areas have been buffed bright.
The original hardware is done in black and buffed bright. New leather lift loop.
This flat top trunk has new, custom, black faux leather handles. This old trunk does have flaws, look closely at the pictures, there are various dents, dings and textures. All latches line up, but the loops don’t come up over very easy.

The interior of this vintage trunk chest has been stripped and sanded, and awaits your finishing touches, though it is useable just the way it is. You could decoupage photo copies of old family photos, recipes, children’s art, old love letters, greeting cards etc. These antique trunks also make a spectacular wedding present, using photo copies of the bride and groom as children.
The original interior tray, (also stripped and sanded), has a piece missing in the bottom. The compartment pieces, from the lid, shown in last picture, are all there, but broke apart. they’ll come with the trunk. If you’d like me to glue some fiberboard, on the backside, that can be done too, for an added charge. It would just be the actual door, that has come apart. the top and bottom pieces get attached to the lid and don’t move. I didn’t attach them, in case someone would rather have the height of the lid, rather than the compartment.
I can also stain, paint or torch the interior for you, for an added charge. message me for details.
