What truly sets this antique steamer trunk apart is its unusual floral embossed tin pattern. The design resembles sunflowers or daisies, depending on how you see it, and is a pattern I don't come across often.
The raised floral embossing has been buffed extra bright, creating an almost mirror or chrome-like shine. The surrounding flat tin has been refinished in antiqued black, creating dramatic contrast and highlighting the intricate embossed pattern.
The original wood slats have been refinished in a rich walnut stain and top-coated with polyurethane for a low-sheen finish. Original metal hardware has been finished in antiqued black and selectively buffed bright. New custom black studded leather handles complete the restoration. There is no key.
Original Interior Tray
The interior of this Victorian travel trunk has been stripped and sanded back to natural wood and is usable just as it is or ready for additional customization.
This trunk also retains its original removable interior tray, which has been stripped and sanded. A few hand-painted flowers have been added to the tray, creating a unique interior detail that complements the floral embossed tin on the exterior.
