Saratoga Antique Steamer Trunk – Embossed Tin Victorian Dome Top Storage Chest
This authentic late-1800s Saratoga antique steamer trunk is a beautifully proportioned, smaller Victorian storage chest featuring a classic dome top (humpback) silhouette and distinctive embossed tin exterior.
A small, fairly rare antique steamer trunk, or antique chest. What was once a vintage travel trunk or antique travel chest, is now ready to be your treasure chest. This vintage storage trunk is a super stylish, space saving storage solution.
This vintage chest or antique trunk, is likely from the mid or late 1800’s In my opinion, far more attractive than a Louis Vuitton trunk! The embossed tin, on this steamer trunk is pretty hard to find!
The embossed tin portions, of this vintage steamer trunk, has been refinished a deep brown, with high points, of embossing, buffed bright on the top and portion of the front, the remainder of the tin in an aged black
The wood slats, on this antique chest trunk have been stained in walnut and slim topped with polyurethane, for a low sheen finish. The top center wood slat has a crack, but has been glued, to keep it in place, see pictures. The hardware has been done in an antiqued black and partially buffed bright. Lwtch at trunk’s left, is missing the loop portion, see pictures. New, custom, brown leather handles, and no key for this vintage travel trunk.
Interior of this antique steamer trunk vintage trunk is stripped and sanded, along with the original interior tray, and ready for your finishing touches, though it is useable, just the way it is. The original tray has lost a knot, and therefore has a hole.
These old trunks make a great keepsake gift, add decoupage, of photo copies of family photos, old love letters, sheet music, family recipes, children’s art, etc. it’s a blank canvas! If you’re not familiar with the decoupage process, I’d be happy to guide you.
The interior of this vintage travel trunk can also be stained, painted, upholstered, or decoupaged to your specifications, by me, for an added charge.
These vintage trunks, also make a great keepsake gift, for any special occasion! A gift that will be handed down, for many generations to come !

16 3/4” tall at center side, 15 3/4" tall @ corners and approximately 18 1/2” tall at the very center, top of lid.
